What are strawberries?
Strawberries are fruits which are part of the rose family. Similarly to Acai Berries, strawberries contain high levels of antioxidants (called polyphenols). These antioxidants are excellent for both hair and skin care as they provide protection, which means you will have strong and healthy hair as well as smooth and healthy skin.
Just in case you do not know what polyphenols are, polyphenols are chemical compounds that we obtain from plant-based foods, they are micronutrients. The healthline.com has a great blog post with more details about the health benefits of polyphenols.
Collagen is needed in order to provide structure to your skin as well as strength to your hair. Collagen is a protein that acts as a structural component of various connective tissues in your body. Increasing the amount of collagen in your body has not impacted hair growth in any way, therefore, why not protect the collagen your body already produces with antioxidants? You can do this by using natural substances such as Vitamin C , as Vitamin C is a great antioxidant to incorporate into your DIYs.

Ready for your weekly face mask?
Okay…If you have tried one of our DIYs before you know that we have talked about steaming your face before applying a mask onto it. This is just to allow the pores in your skin to open up, making it easier for our mixture to seep deeper into the skin.
The process of steaming just involves placing your head over steam for 5-10 minutes. You can do this by boiling some water and pacing your head over the water in a large bowl.
If you are now ready to apply the Strawberry face mask, you can use a facial brush or your hand to evenly spread the mixture all over your face. Allow the mask to sit for up to half an hour (30 minutes) before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.
What should you do after the face mask?
You can go ahead and proceed to toning and moisturising your face as the mask has already cleansed your face. These are the main steps used in the ‘How to keep your face healthy all day long’ blog post.
If you have not yet seen that post, here is a brief overview of the four steps used in Ify Beauty’s skin care routine:
1)Double Cleansing
-Oil Cleansing followed by using a Water Based Cleanser
2)Toning
3)Moisturizing
Using strawberries for Hair care
You need
- 10-15 Strawberries (depending on hair length and volume)
- 1 TBSP honey
- 2 TBSP Olive oil (or favourite oil of choice)
- 2-3 drop of tea tree essential oil (or favourite essential oil of choice)
- (Optional) 1-2 TBSP of your favourite floral water (To add a nice scent)
- 2 (generous) TBSP of Ghassoul Clay
Method
- Using or Floral Water (or not) Mash up you strawberries, it is totally fine if there are still some strawberry bits left just try to mash them up as best as possible
- Add in all your other ingredients, except for the Ghassoul Clay for now
- Add your clay in last and observe the consistency of the mixture making sure it does not get too dry and thick as this will make it harder to spread across your hair
Once you are happy with the consistency apply the mixture all over your hair, focusing on the roots and tips of your hair. Allow the mask to sit on your hair for up to 5 minutes as if the clay gets too hard, trust me, it will be a nightmare to rinse out.
I would preferably use this mask on wet/damp hair just to open up the pores on your scalp before application. as a shampoo.
When you are finally ready to rinse the mixture out, rinse it out with lukewarm water and carry on with your normal hair care routine…
